Historic monuments of the Romans, Arabs and Phoenecians and thousands of acres of nature reserves preserving some of the most incredible landscape and coastline in Spain. The list of local activities is endless, summer and winter alike, there is something for everyone. The nearest beach and restaurant is only 5 minutes walk with many more shops and restaurants, bars and beaches only a little further. There is a local and efficient bus service into the main town every 15 minutes. The picturesque 'Marina del Este' is just 10 minutes drive as well as the popular villages of La Herradura and Salobreña. Long famous for it's unspoilt beauty, Palm Beach sits on a narrow peninsula bound on the east by sweeping beaches and the Pacific Ocean, and on the west by more beaches on the edge of Pittwater - a large lake area surrounded by native bushland and a favourite place for sailing.

Local Information

Herradura is a lovely little town with many restaurants and bars - Nerja is about a 5 miin drive which is a popular resort, readily accessible from Malaga and its international airport, with motorway access to within a mile of the town centre. Nestling in the foothills of the mountains, the old town, with its narrow, vehicle restricted, cobbled streets, offers a more relaxed holiday from that found in the big resorts further along the coast. With small picturesque bays, the famous 'Balcon de Europa' promenade, numerous small shops, bars and restaurants, and its wonderful all year round climate, Nerja has something for all seasons, especially for families and the more mature holiday maker. Local Excursions The Nerja Caves, one of Spain's biggest tourist attractions, are well worth a visit. A extensive network of fascinating underground caverns with the World's biggest stalactites, plus an auditorium and stage where the annual music and arts festival takes place. Nearby is Maro, a picturesque village with panoramic views across the sea and a small, secluded beach invisible from the cliff top. The mountains shelter many small attractive villages, notably Frigiliana with its restored Roman town and narrow vehicle-free cobbled streets. Further afield is the historic city of Grenada with its famous Alhambra Palace (pre-booking advised).
